    Fabio Martino –
    A Portrait

Fabio Martino was born in São Paulo in 1988 and has been living in Germany since 2008. From an early age, he discovered a fascination with the piano that continues to drive him to this day. Ten albums document the remarkable breadth of his work — ranging from major Romantic piano concertos to first recordings of contemporary music. Numerous new works have been dedicated to him, most recently a concerto for piano and orchestra by Alexandre Guerra, which Fabio Martino himself premiered — a striking testament to his artistic significance.

Yet Fabio Martino is far more than a pianist in the traditional sense. Since 2021, he has formed a permanent duo with violinist Alejandro Aldana, devoted entirely to chamber music and driven by a shared search for unconventional formats and surprising programmes. He is drawn to building bridges: between tradition and modernity, between familiar masterpieces and neglected treasures, between seriousness and a subtle, playful lightness.

One immediately senses his curiosity. When Fabio Martino speaks about music, one immediately senses the depth of his passion for the piano — and his openness in sharing that enthusiasm with others. This energy also shapes his teaching, whether in masterclasses or workshops with young talents, students and professionals. For him, pedagogy is not merely about imparting technique, but about igniting a genuine joy in making music.

    Masterclasses

For Fabio Martino, teaching is itself a form of art. Alongside his international concert career, he devotes himself with great commitment to working with young talents, university students and professional pianists. In doing so, he shares not only technical and musical knowledge, but also the depth of his stage experience — always with the aim of nurturing each individual’s unique potential.

True sensitivity, in his view, lies in recognising the personality and needs of his students, encouraging them to follow their own artistic path and to develop a distinctive musical voice of their own.
